The idea of a University in Barotseland is a brain child of the visionaries of Bethel University Mwenda and Likezo Mulundano
who happens to be the founding Vice Chancellor and Registrar of Rusangu University (formerly Zambian Adventist University) respectively.
The motivation for this duo is their love for God which they are determined to share with others through Christian Education. They had Bethel University registered by the Government of the Republic of Zambia through PACRA in January 2012.
With much courage and determination they took a gigantic step of faith and stepped “into the waters” as it were and started the project in a very humble way. The need for a Christian Institution of higher learning in this part of Zambia was long overdue and indeed unquestionable.
The move to establish an Adventist University in our country is irreversible. With about 75% of this region's population being youth, it is indeed imperative that an institution of this nature be established. It is the intention of this duo to add value and restore the lost academic image that characterized this area. The degree programs are in line with the University Act II of 1
